Why do some spaces make us uncomfortable?

I've been sensitive to the energy of space for as long as I can remember; how it made me feel and if i longed to stay or run away. Sometimes I'd have an inescapable desire to move furniture, adjust the lighting or re-balance the energy in some way. Not much has changed - except my ability to find restraint under those circumstances.
The Designer's Lens Perspective
Designers have a responsibility; to educate and elevate the conversation around transforming house to home - or bricks and mortar to buildings of positivity and purpose.
Beginning with a foundational understanding of the client goals, we have a unique ability to reframe the dialogue away from aesthetics to one that encapsulates the human experience - our 5 senses (often followed by the proverbial 6th sense, one I feel is often overlooked).
In my practice, I yearn to shift the needle of desire away from materiality to the underlying felt experience. Light, acoustics, spacial volume, contrast, nature, scent and even taste play a critical role in how spaces affect our inner sense of belonging and overall well being.

Light - How natural and ambient light moves through your home over the course of the day

In today's climate I am feeling more encouraged than ever, how current events have created a need and opportunity to engage in dialogue; one that includes our human experience and its interrelationship with the built environment, both public and personal.
